“Beauty and the Beat” Reality about Dutch DJs Wraps Buenos Aires Shoot

It has been a crazy past few weeks for the team at San Telmo Productions as we were providing complete production  services for the Dutch TV show “Beauty and the Beat”. The show follows a group of female DJs from the Netherlands who compete to be crowned the next top female DJ of the Netherlands. Think “America´s Next Top Model” meets “Project Runway”. The contestants stayed in a beautiful mansion with a roof-top pool in Palermo, the hippest barrio of Buenos Aires and spun at the top night clubs in the city, as well as Ultra Fest electronic music festival.

The Dutch take DJing seriously! A crew of over 40 people came over from the Netherlands, including reps of the TV station, editors and the contestants. We arranged all logistics (customs clearance, transport, catering, permits) as well as extra crew (camera operator, gaffer, sound recorder, production people), HD equipment rental and of course scouting and casting. The hardest part was finding the mansion: we started to search just a month before the shoot started and most houses of this style were already rented! We found the last one available, literally!

As with all reality shows, there were tons of last-minute changes but we were able to meet every request–including casting our own Production Assistant as a “mailman” to deliver a special letter.
